Alupro Membership Rules and Regulations

  1. Membership Year
    1. The Membership Year runs from 1 January to 31 December.
    2. Full Member and Reprocessor Member fees, calculated on a £ per tonne formula, are based on the previous year’s statistics and are payable in advance, either quarterly or annually, as agreed.
    3. Fixed-rate memberships are invoiced annually in January, or upon joining if partway through the year.
  1. Full Member
    1. Fees are calculated based on the previous year’s sale of:
      1. Gross tonnes of aluminium for packaging applications entering the UK market.
      2. Net tonnes of aluminium purchased for conversion to packaging and housefoil.
    2. Full Member payments:
      1. Unless otherwise agreed, Full Members will be invoiced quarterly in advance, based on the tonnes sold in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, according to the statistical information provided by the Member.
      2. Invoices are to be issued, and payments to be made, quarterly in advance.
      3. Full Members opting for annual payments will be invoiced in January.
    3. Full Member statistical information reporting:
      1. Quarterly tonnage data must be submitted to the Secretariat, under strict confidentiality, within 14 days of the end of each quarter (March, June, September, December).
      2. Reporting system must be agreed to ensure accurate and timely submission of data.
  1. Reprocessor / Exporter Member
    1. Fees are based on the previous year’s sale of Packaging Recovery Notes (PRNs) or Packaging Export Recovery Notes (PERNs) to companies obligated under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations 2024, or their representatives.
    2. Reprocessor / Exporter Member payments:
      1. Unless otherwise agreed, Reprocessor / Exporter Members will be invoiced annually based on the previous year’s PRNs/PERNs.
      2. Typically, invoices will be received in July, following confirmation of PRN/PERN tonnage.
    3. Reprocessor / Exporter statistical information reporting:
      1. Quarterly PRN / PERN sales data must be submitted to the Secretariat, under strict confidentiality, within 14 days of the end of each quarter (March, June, September, December).
      2. Reporting system must be agreed to ensure accurate and timely submission of data.
  1. Associate Member
    1. Fees are payable annually in advance or quarterly in advance, by prior agreement.
  1. General Terms
    1. VAT applies to all membership fees, where applicable.
    2. The Secretariat reserves the right to audit member returns, under strict conditions of confidentiality.
    3. Termination of Membership: twelve months’ written notice is required.
    4. Full Trademark User’s guidelines are provided once Membership has been confirmed.
