Alupro announces strategic partnership with LARAC

As part of an ongoing drive to work more closely with council representatives, support their waste management education activities and help to inspire an uplift in kerbside recycling rates, Alupro has partnered with the Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC).

The agreement will see Alupro work closely with LARAC to engage with its members and share best practice guidance around aluminium packaging recycling. In addition, Alupro will have the opportunity to position its latest consumer education programmes in front of local authority representatives through regular blogs, articles, advertorials and banner adverts on the LARAC website.

Joining an illustrious list of partners from across the resources and waste supply chain, collaborating with LARAC demonstrates Alupro’s commitment to working closely with councils to improve kerbside capture and recycling rates. Working as the voice of the UK aluminium packaging recycling industry, Alupro is focused on driving ambitious national progress towards a 100% recycling rate for aluminium packaging.

Tom Giddings, executive director of Alupro, commented: “As part of our efforts to educate consumers and inspire an uplift in kerbside capture rates, we continue to work closely with local authorities across the UK to inspire positive behavioural change among constituents. Through our proven engagement initiatives, such as MetalMatters, which has been rolled out by hundreds of councils since its launch in 2013, we aim to make recycling simple, accessible and digestible for householders.

“Thanks to our funded programmes, we can help to positively influence community awareness around aluminium packaging recycling and drive widespread consumer engagement. Our programmes are simple, creative and effective – critical to ensuring effective campaign roll-out, maximising buy-in at a household level and delivering optimum results.

“By partnering with LARAC, we aim to reach more local authority representatives than ever before. This will help us to showcase the numerous campaigns that we can offer to make a measurable difference to recycling rates, as well as demonstrating the circularity of aluminium packaging.”

Toni McNamara, LARAC Executive Director, added: “LARAC is delighted to partner with Alupro to support local authorities in increasing aluminium packaging recycling rates. Councils play a crucial role in driving household recycling behaviour and, by working together, we can help provide them with the resources, guidance, and proven engagement initiatives to make a real impact.

“This collaboration will ensure that our members have access to the latest best practice strategies and consumer education programmes, helping to boost kerbside capture rates and improve the quality of material collected. We look forward to working closely with Alupro to support local authorities in achieving their recycling ambitions.”
